Dizzie Rascal - Come and dance for me

I used to not really get Dizzie, i couldnt see what all the hype was about. Then i saw him perform in Denmark to a crowd of 10,000 people. He literally owned the stage and had the whole crowd going nuts. That takes serious talent.

Since then ive really rated him, and can now see how good this guy is. Calvin harris is another guy i rate a very talented producer, who makes original music that appeals to the masses. Its a great collab on paper and i think the actual tune is just as good!! refreshing!!!

Todd Edwards - Shut the door (Logistics Remix)

A friend of mine is an avid hospital drum and bass fan and he told me about this track down the pub last night, i was extremely intrigued to hear it!!! After the initial "blooming hell that's fast" shock hearing that famous old loop 50bpm faster than before, I'm feeling it!!
Would be interested to know if this is a bootleg or an official mix. I'm guessing that it’s a bootleg though. I love the way the original is used in the middle. Would be awesome to go to an D and B night and hear this one randomly sneak in the mix!!

Justice - DVNO - Todd Edwards Vocal Remix

Great to see todd back on form this year with a few major remixes under his belt. The Sunshine Bros Dub remix of this is doing the rounds at the moment, but the vocal mix sadly appears to stay unreleased. This is my fav of the mixes, heres a clip from EZ's show. Classic Todd goodness. Nice to see experimentation with the structure too!

Robin Thicke - Magic

Biggest tune of the summer right here? Pure vibes!! Sounds like it could of been made 40 years ago. Ive always been a big fan of his work and this one is just amazing. Great honest music that will appeal to everyone.

Pharrell - Creamsickle

An unreleased gem from Pharrell, got a kinda 80's vibe to the synths and drums. pure smooth summer time music. Was intended for "In My Mind" but didnt make the final cut.

Cotti Ft Doctor - Calm Down

listen here

This ones been doing the rounds on promo for ages. Its finally out on vinyl (with a maesure of controversy surrounding it too). Reggae Meets Dubstep is a style that ive always enjoyed and adding doctor to the mixonly makes it even better. He lays down a superb performance on this track and its get proper wedged in your head! Looking forward to spinning this one over the summer months.

Jay Dilla - 3 Beat Tapes

The legendary hip hop producer J Dilla, i came across an album called the "3 beat tapes" via a friend of mine. Which is basically a cd of un-mixed/un-finished demo instrumentals. Hip hop in its rawest form. The tracks are only very short, but it's pure gold!!! this track is my personal favourite from the album. I can't get enough of the sampling!

Sykes - Vaults Of Grey

I came across this band via the above tune, which is a 4/4 garage mix of one of their tracks. It came to my attention via the uptown forums as it was in-correctly labeled as a Todd Edwards remix. It is in fact an in-house mix by the band themselves. They are big Todd Edwards fans and wanted him to do a mix, but he's a busy man so they attempted to make one instead. Upon further investigation i discovered the bands myspace page and found a wealth of great music on there. I love the bands style of multi music genres and sweet chord progressions. Just great all round music. check them out and add them on myspace, lovely bunch of people too!!

5 of my all time favourites

As a small indication to give you an idea where im coming from, heres 5 tracks which have stood the test of time for me, not necccerily my top 5 of all time, but just great tracks i have never got bored off and will always have time for.

1. TJR Ft Xavier - Just Gets Better

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gllucWlSP50

The track which inspired my blog title. One of the most adptley titled tracks. It literally does get better which each listen. The chords which kick in latter in the track, Xaviers sublime vocals, phat drums, deep bass. The perfect club track. Theres some great Todd Edwards remixes too which always helps. But its the TJR dub mix which is the killer.

2. Pharrell Ft Jay Z - Frontin'

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wIBTrN5Odbg

I fell in love with this track the first time i heard it in a club. Dj had been playing that useless watered down middle of the row house stuff they play in luminar clubs all night. Then out of knowhere just dropped this. It was about the time it was doing the rounds on promo so id heard it a few times. It just sounded so phat. Simple ideas are usually the most effective and its one of the simplist tunes i can think of. Countless people have remixed it and resung it, the sign of a great song. Pharrell's Falsetto voice works perfectly on this tune and Jay-Z smacks the middle 8. Everything about this track is perfect.

3. Michael Jackson - I Can't Help It

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=klja3RBVXis

I had to include Jackson in this list somewhere!! This is perhaps my favourite of his, its relatively unplayed/unheard of (well in Jackson terms anyway), just an album track from off the wall. Pure classic Jackson funk at its best. And the Shy Fx remake - Plastic Soul is more than half handy too!!

4. Puddle Of Mudd - Blurry

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PGmrL2h8lrE

A track which is just deep. Means alot to me and the chord changes just get sweeter on each listen. A classic and very well written pop track, which hits all the right notes!

5. Bob Sinclar - I Feel For You

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn7SB5g2FVE

One of my favourite house records of all time. The Cerrone samples are just awesome & the vocal is awesome. A friend told me once, that he was in Ibiza when this track was promo'd and he was stood outside club watching planes lane and the sunset when this was playing. Always sticks with me that image. This track is good for the soul!! Reminds me of good days when i was still in my early clubbing years and was generally a great period in my life.

Intro To My Blog

This page is started up basically out of love for music. I'm a UK garage DJ, however, like most people i enjoy and appreciate other genres of music. The only side music i never really can get my head around is the trance/techno side of house. Its gotta have something raw or soulful to it or it doesn't grab me.

This blog will be used to document tracks/bands and artists I've discovered along the way and to show my respect to people who make great music. I also think it will be interesting to look back on in years to come and re-discover music which gets forgotten over time.

There will probably be the majority of garage music featured on here as that is the scene I'm most heavily involved with and therefore most of the music i discover. However my aim to is to keep it varied.

Right that's enough about the page....time to get blogging!!
